On behalf of\u00a0<em>WHO Committee on Rehabilition Disaster Relief (CRDR)<\/em> committe leadership let me take this opportunity to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">thank those\u00a0of\u00a0you who participated in the highly\u00a0successful first\u00a0<em>Symposium\u00a0on\u00a0Rehabilitation\u00a0Relief\u00a0<\/em><\/span>at the <em>6th ISPRM World Congress<\/em> in PR in June.\u00a0The\u00a0scientific program\u00a0was\u00a0excellent\u00a0and\u00a0the forum on\u00a0<em>&#8216;How Can Rehabilitation Actors Coordinate Better in\u00a0Disaster?<\/em>&#8216;\u00a0stimulated intense discussion. Please find the symposium program attached and\u00a0presentations from the scientific session,\u00a0panel\u00a0and committee session\u00a0can be viewed by accessing the link <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/gosneyjr\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">http:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/gosneyjr<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: x-small\"> (please refer to the\u00a0symposium program &#8216;document&#8217;).\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">Based on our symposium&#8217;s\u00a0success, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">JRM has\u00a0commissioned a special series on <em>disaster rehabilitation<\/em><\/span><em>\u00a0<\/em>which will be introduced in the November issue with\u00a0a special report written by committee\u00a0leadership (final proof\u00a0available at\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.medicaljournals.se\/jrm\/content\/?list_preview=1\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">http:\/\/www.medicaljournals.se\/jrm\/content\/?list_preview=1<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">, attached) and published with\u00a0one of the\u00a0invited\u00a0papers from the symposium (<em>Rauch et al;<\/em> <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.medicaljournals.se\/jrm\/content\/?list_preview=1\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">http:\/\/www.medicaljournals.se\/jrm\/content\/?list_preview=1<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">). Other invited papers will follow in future\u00a0issues and uninvited papers are welcomed as well;\u00a0please consider submitting and\u00a0encourage\u00a0colleagues\u00a0to\u00a0do so\u00a0(see the attachedJRM-ISPRM CRDR\u00a0<em>Call for Papers) <\/em>! This special series is intended to\u00a0build the evidence base on <em>disaster rehabilitation <\/em>and to\u00a0inform and educate the global professional rehabilitation community about needs and\u00a0best practices in this\u00a0emerging discipline.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">The\u00a0symposium also proved an\u00a0ideal\u00a0opportunity to\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">recruit\u00a0new\u00a0members<\/span>, several representing\u00a0rehabilitation INGOs.\u00a0We\u00a0enthusiastically welcome\u00a0<em>Claude TARDIF\/ICRC, Antony DUTTINE\/Handicap\u00a0International, Stephen Muldoon\/Livability Ireland\u00a0and Raouf Gharbo\/Physicians for Peace.\u00a0<\/em>Welcome, gentlemen! These new members bring valuable perspective which will enhance our ability to effectively support humanitarian disaster relief efforts. \u00a0Please find attached a current roster (advise\u00a0me\u00a0of\u00a0corrections or changes) and don&#8217;t hesitate to reach out to potential new members!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">The\u00a0committee\u00a0also convened\u00a0its <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">second\u00a0physical session<\/span> during <em>ISPRM\u00a02011<\/em> (the first at the\u00a0Interim Meeting in Limassol, Cyprus\u00a0in October 2010). Think broadly! &#8211; online consulting, live on-scene streaming, social media,\u00a0blogging capability, etc. as\u00a0well as more traditional features and functions should be considered.
